I’m a little over 5 weeks into my quest for abs and I’m super pleased with the results of the last month’s diet tweaking and super training.
If you didn’t know I started training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu & Thai boxing a couple times a week. On the days I’m not training MMA I do Kettlebell 300 workouts, some weightlifting and HIIT circuits (NTC). I still practice yoga daily, even if it’s just for 20 minutes. My body thanks me for this. 
My diet changed completely!! I still love raw and completely support the healthy, enzyme-rich lifestyle (if I ever go into Ulcerative Colitis flare up again this is my natural cure) but as of lately I’ve been extremely healthy, flare free, and bored. I wanted to learn something new, so I changed up my diet and now I’m eating: eggs, veggies, greens, nuts, fish, shrimp, lean meat, legumes, plain greek yogurt & some complex carbs. I still do ACV, chia seed, raw sauerkraut, flax seed, and a little quinoa. But fruit is only on Saturdays, my “cheat day.” The cheat day is used to spike my metabolism so my body doesn’t get used to my daily intake. It’s also a way for me to stay sane and I eat so much cleaner! Instead of nibbling on some chocolate on a tuesday or drinking a glass of wine on a wednesday I’ll save it for Saturday and it’s like a delayed satisfaction. 6 days a week my diet is squeaky clean, the 7th day… dirrty!
On Saturdays (the 7th day) I can eat whatever I want. I eat a healthy “normal” high protein breakfast, then I’ll have a grapefruit and coffee (for damage control) and the rest of the meals in the day are cheat meals. Pretty much anything that I was craving throughout the week. Usually it’s a fresh smoothie & granola, LOTS of carbs, fruit, plenty of chocolate, and some wine in the evening. By the end of the evening I’m so sick of sugar that I’m excited to get back on my super clean, low sugar, slow carb diet the rest of the week. I follow Tim Ferriss’ guidelines to have a successful cheat day.
If you want a toned body with sexy ab definition you need to gain muscle and lower your OVERALL body fat. Girls, that means hit the gym, lift weights, do HIIT - not just cardio. Try daily workouts from BodyRock.Com or my favorite Iphone app Nike Training Club. As hard as you work you need to clean up your diet if you want to SEE results. I found that the MyFitnessPal app has done wonders in teaching me portion sizes and the nutritional information of foods that I eat everyday :) My username is SBgettinglean and I keep an open food diary - friend me!
